Archway Classical Academy School Year 2014-15 Summary and Estimated Breakdown of Deposits and Classics to Keep
This is a copy of the schedule per grade for book deposits and consumable book costs, so you can budget ahead for this expense. Book prices are subject to change.
Textbooks will be issued to each student, but they remain the property of the school. A $150.00 book deposit is required, and the book deposit is refunded at the end of the year if all the textbooks are returned in good condition. If a student misplaces a book, he or she will be charged the full price of the book, which is significantly more than the per-book deposit amount of $20-35.
*Textbook deposits are fully refundable at the end of the year or can be rolled over from one year to the next and returned upon completion of fifth grade.
Your child’s class will utilize classic works of literature during the upcoming school year. At Great Hearts Academies, it has always been the tradition for students to develop a personal library of books that they mark in, keep and return to during their time at Great Hearts, and treasure for years to come. We call these books “Classics to Keep”. Your child’s class will utilize these classics during the upcoming school year. Parents and students are strongly encouraged to purchase these books for their own personal collections, so that they can mark them and keep them, allowing students to develop their own impressive personal library of classics over the course of their academic career with Great Hearts. For families who do not purchase the texts, their student will be given access to a copy of these books as part of their curriculum. Students should not mark these books provided by Great Hearts, and will be asked to return the books in good condition once their class has finished working with the book.
We are working on finalizing the student workbooks for Singapore Math (We have referred to these as “Singapore Bundles”.) While we ask that parents consider contributing to offset the cost of these consumable workbooks that have to be purchased each year, a full set of the workbooks will be provided to all students on the first day of school. If you would like to contribute to offset this cost to the Academy, the payment portal will be available in June.
Families may purchase books and other school supplies from whichever vendor they choose. We have partnered with Edukit and Barnes and Noble as a convenience for our families, but families are free to shop for bargains elsewhere! We only ask that all books match the ISBNs listed on our website. This ensures that students can all follow along on the same page when reading and discussing in class.
Archway Chandler is proud to partner with Simply School Uniforms. Uniforms are now available at www.SimplySchoolUniforms.com. We ask that families purchase all uniform items from Simply School Uniforms in order to ensure that the color and fit matches throughout our student body. If the cost of the uniform presents a financial hardship for your family, please contact us for assistance.
Parents are asked to purchase classroom supplies to be used by their child and to be shared by the classroom. This year, Archway is partnerting with EduKit to provide pre-assembled kits for purchase containing all of the needed supplies for each grade level. Visit EduKit's Archway Websiteto order your child's kit. EduKit purchases completed before June 23, 2014 will be delivered to the student's classroom for the first day of school. After June 23rd, orders incur an extra fee and will be delivered to your home shortly before school begins. ORDERS MUST BE COMPLETED BY JULY 15. Note - EduKit packages DO NOT include a backpack, lunch box, or water bottle with sports top which are also required supply items for the school year. For a complete list of the supplies needed for each grade level, please visit EduKit's Archway Website. The lists are at the bottom of the order form, separated by grade level.
Archway Chandler is a tuition free public charter school open to everyone regardless of their financial situation.Currently, only 80% of Archway Classical Chandler's budget is fulfilled from the state, thus your donations are vital to the operation and success of the Academy. We strongly encourage every family to make an annual donation of $1200.00 per student to Archway Classical Chandler’s Community Investment Campaign. If that is more than you can give then we ask that each family give what they can. This campaign addresses the funding gap between the school's per student cost and the state aid given per student. Archway Classical Chandler is a non-profit, 501 (c) 3 corporation and as such, your gifts may be tax-deductible. Donations can be made on a monthly basis by credit card or check. Donations can be made online or by downloading the Community Investment form.
